Shayna Baszler and Kairi Sane are anything but strangers. They first met in the finals of the inaugural Mae Young Classic, and since then have faced off on NXT TV and put on two classic matches at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn IV and WWE’s first all-female pay-per-view Evolution. They’re well on their way to defining this era of NXT in the way Sasha Banks and Bayley did before them, and this week’s NXT comes with a massive announcement for the next chapter in this rivalry.

As William Regal announced to Shayna Baszler—who was flanked in the locker room by her fellow MMA Four Horsewomen Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke—Kairi Sane has invoked her rematch clause, which means Baszler will defend her NXT Women’s Championship at NXT TakeOver: WarGames on Saturday, November 17. This won’t just be any regular rematch though. A feud this heated, built on this much history and personal hatred, deserves something more. So, this time around it will be a 2-out-of-3 Falls match.

Sane’s got the better record on the big shows right now, having beaten Baszler at both the Mae Young Classic and their first NXT TakeOver match, where Sane captured the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time. Since then though, Baszler has returned with new confidence, determination, anger, and a pack of fighters by her side to boot. Will Sane reclaim the championship, or will Baszler cement her status as the woman to beat in NXT? We’ll find out on November 17 when the two throw down once again.
