Charlotte Flair faces Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series.

Ronda is standing tall atop the RAW women’s division at the moment and has been entangled in the hottest feud in all of pro wrestling, with adversaries Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. But what you may not know is that Charlotte challenged Ronda to a title match years ago, back when she was the WWE Divas Champion.

It all began in October 2015, when Ronda mentioned that her goal was to become a WWE champion after her time in MMA was done:

“What I would love to do—I got an Olympic medal, I would want to retire from MMA as one of the greatest of all time, I would love to have the chance to be the boxing world champion, and I would love to have the chance to be a jiu-jitsu world champion,” Ronda said before bringing up her WWE ambitions. “I’d love to have the chance to be the Divas World Champion and just be the best of everything at one point.”

This caught the attention of the then-WWE Divas Champion Charlotte, who quickly extended a challenge to Ronda:

Lo and behold, three years later, the two women had one of the best matches at Survivor Series and are carrying that heat into the new year. Ronda and Charlotte’s feud has grown steadily since that 2015 tweet: The two had a staredown backstage at the finals of the 2017 Mae Young Classic before Ronda officially joined the WWE roster, they crossed paths again during Ronda’s Royal Rumble debut, and they have since taken multiple jabs at each other despite being on separate brands.

The Rousey-Flair rivalry can only grow in 2019, and the true winner of the of the feud? That would have to be the fans. So, grab your popcorn, buckle up, and keep your eyes glued to the WWE Network for what comes next.
