Flashback to the Moment Ronda Rousey Introduced the World to Being a ‘DNB’

The build-up to Ronda Rousey’s fight with Bethe Correia at UFC 190 got straight up nasty. Bad blood is thrown around as a buzzword a lot, but this fight churned out major heat. Dirty, scathing, boiling heat.

When all the talk finished and Ronda finally scowled into Correia’s eyes inside the Octagon, she paid for every word. ‘Don’t cry,’ Ronda snarked after knocking Correia flat on her face.

But more than vindication came out of the ugliness. On the UFC’s Embedded series, Ronda invented a new phrase earning an immediate spot on Urban Dictionary: Do nothing b-tch.

“Being put into this position of being a role model, I don’t think I’m infallible enough for that,” she said. “I have this one term for the kind of woman my mother raised me to not be. I call it a ‘do nothing b-tch, or I call it a ‘DNB’ a lot of the time. The kind of chick that just tries to be pretty and be taken care of by someone else.”

Just like that, ‘DNB’ stampeded into our culture as fast as Ronda took the MMA world by storm. On top of getting hunted down by the most dangerous women on the planet, she got criticized about her muscles. ‘DNB’ directly countered that. Ronda’s body ain’t for looks. It’s utilitarian. And there’s beauty in that too.

“I think it’s femininely bad-ass as f- because there’s not a single muscle on my body that isn’t for a purpose,” she said. “Because I’m not a do nothing b-tich. It’s not very eloquently said, but it’s to the point. And, maybe that’s just what I am. I’m not that eloquent, but I’m to the point.”

You know Ronda’s phrase, now live it with our Signature Series.
