Watch Ronda Rousey Geek Out With Austin Creed, Kofi Kingston, and Zelina Vega Over Mortal Kombat 11

Austin Creed is omnipresent. He’s streaming video games on UpUpDownDown, wrestling on SmackDown (as Xavier Woods), and rolling dice in Dungeons and Dragons with the infamous Acquisitions Incorporated. Think of something cool and chances are Dr. Creed has done it and already has the video up on his YouTube channel.

For example, that big Mortal Kombat 11 reveal event that announced Ronda will be Sonya Blade? Creed was totally there cosplaying as Shao Kahn along with WWE’s Kofi Kingston and Zelina Vega, who showed up as Shang Tsung and Jade. They were all pumped about the reveal and looked like they were ripped straight out of the game themselves.

“There weren’t very many badass women that looked like a little toe-head girl like me,” Ronda said. “I was obsessed with martial arts. I saw Sonya Blade and it just expanded my whole universe. Like, I wanted to be Sonya Blade as close as possible and so I was training my whole life to be ready in case Raiden showed up.”

We don’t want to give away all the secrets for all the kombatants waiting to play when the new installment drops in, but eagle-eyed Vega did spot Ronya—we mean Sonya—Blade performing an armbar. Not just any armbar, but a very special armbar.

“It wasn’t just an armbar, it was a rolling juji gatame which is like my favorite armbar. The one my mom taught me,” she said. “So, to see Sonya Blade do that then stomp on the head. I was like, I didn’t waste all those years learning that stuff! Now I see that it’s practical.”

Expect more than just that armbar, but you’ll have to wait a couple of months before having all the answers. Mortal Kombat 11 drops April 23rd, fulfilling a childhood dream of Ronda’s. Which is really cool, but it’s also cool that her peers are completely stoked about it too. They’re all pretty awesome.
