Go Back to the Time Ronda Rousey Joined the Greatest Action Movie Stars Ever in ‘The Expendables 3’

What if Rambo teamed up with the Terminator and blew everything up in sight while fighting against evil forces? That’s exactly what happened when some genius named David Callaham came up with The Expendables franchise.

Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and the best action stars of a bygone decade kicked ass through multiple installments. While they picked up some new recruits along the way, there was just one thing that they forgot: Badass women.

That’s where Ronda Rousey finally kicked down the door and punched the director of The Expendables 3. Literally.

“Ronda’s first time ever on camera was the scene with Sly at a bar, and she’s really super-nervous,” Parick Hughes told HitFix.com. “I went up and said, ‘Well, what do you do before a big fight?’ And she says, ‘I like to spar in my room. I get that nervous energy out.’ And I said, ‘So, you need to hit something? Let’s find something to hit.’ And she said, “But I want to hit you.'”

One punch later, Ronda’s nerves were gone and Hughes had one less rib, although she denies hitting him that hard.

Who wouldn’t have been nervous though? Not only was it her first film, but Ronda flew directly from the highly intense 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter opposite rival Miesha Tate in order to make it onto The Expendables 3 set.

After a short adjustment period, Ronda was bro-ing out with some of the biggest movie stars on the planet and having a blast in the summer blockbuster of 2014. Turns out, it’d be the first of many.

“I thought I was going to be like the new kid at the school when I walk into the cafeteria and everyone’s like, ‘You can’t sit here!’ That’s what I thought I was walking into,” she said. “They’ll probably go, like, ‘This chick? She’s not even an actress. She’s not even a guy,’ or something. I don’t know what I was expecting. I was expecting the worst. And yeah, I felt a little like the Downy teddy bear when I actually showed up. Everybody was just so welcoming and warm.”
