Ronda Rousey Explains How An Arm-Snapping Romance Let Her Be Herself During ‘Entourage’

After filming back-to-back blockbuster action movies, Ronda Rousey got a little break being able to play herself in HBO’s hit TV series-turned-film Entourage. Instead of dodging bullets, she had to deal with Jerry Ferrara’s character Turtle spitting game.

It’s a Klondike bar question: What would you do for a chance to take Ronda Rousey on a date? Well, you’d have to deal with Travis Browne, but in Entourage, all Turtle had to do was last 30 seconds in the Octagon with her.

Kevin Connolly, who played Eric Murphy, said Ferrara was totally down to do it in real life, but Ronda didn’t think it was such a good idea. 

“Jerry’s got a big heart, I know he wanted to do the big stunts. I think Ronda actually kinda talked him out of it,” Connolly said on The Dan Patrick Show. “She’s like, ‘Yeah, you could do it but you probably shouldn’t. I’ve broken bigger dude’s ribs doing this so why don’t you have the double do it.'”

See? Ronda was so nice. She’s thrown so many TV show hosts, comedians and, of course, other MMA fighter’s on their backs to know the damages it creates. 

Aside from the brief fight scene, Entourage was actually a breath of fresh air for Ronda, who got to finally show a different side of herself than a scowl.

“I’m not normally shooting people with guns. That’s not Monday for me,” she told Access. “It was nice having people see me outside of running, jumping, climbing trees, shoot and punch. […] I never get to really show that sensitive, self-conscious side like I kind of got to do with Turtle.”
