RAW: Never Meet Your Heroes

“Heroes. We all have them. Wonder Woman. Nelson Mandela. Me.”

According to former RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus was her hero growing up. But there’s a reason they say “never meet your heroes.”

On this week’s Monday Night RAW, Bliss tells the story of the first time she met Stratus outside an arena—which at first sounds strangely like a segment from the Eminem song “Stan”—back when Bliss “was just a seven-year-old goddess.” The little girl was freezing cold, clutching her autograph book, and at least perceptive enough to notice Trish Stratus’ “wrinkly eyes.”

The way Bliss tells this story—assuming an interaction between the two even happened at all back in the day—after she asked for an autograph, Stratus burped in her face and then said she could have an autograph for $50. Of course, seven-year-olds don’t tend to have that kind of cash on them, and the only thing Bliss had in her possession was that autograph book. “You can’t buy Jimmy Choos with an autograph book,” was apparently Stratus’ response to that, before she ripped Bliss’ book in half and stepped on her foot.

In Bliss’ mind, this is all the proof anyone needs: “When it comes to meeting your heroes, Stratusfaction is not guaranteed.” However, I wonder what’s going on in Stratus’ mind after this… Maybe she could see what Bliss would become.
