On this week’s NXT, an interviewer had the audacity to ask NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler if she’s at all “concerned” that Io Shirai will possibly attack her with a kendo stick at this Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: XXV, just like she did on NXT TV last week. (That attack was after Baszler, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir used the damn numbers game against Candice LeRae).
Baszler, of course, noted what a ridiculous question that was:
“No, no, no, no, no. You know what the difference is? At TakeOver, she’s not going to be allowed weapons. And she’s run all out of friends, and I still happen to have mine. And they’re gonna be right there with me.”
Baszler’s answer was short and to the point, while later in the episode, Io Shirai told Cathy Kelley that she’s not afraid of Baszler or her friends either. She also said she wouldn’t need the kendo stick on Saturday to get the job done and take Baszler’s title.
But on the subject of friends, Candice LeRae approached Shirai to thank her for last week… and to let her know that, at TakeOver, she’ll have her back.
NXT TakeOver: XXV airs live on the WWE Network this Saturday night.
