Fastlane: Sorry, Charlie

So, the stipulation for the match was this: If Becky Lynch wins this match, she’s officially back in the RAW Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania and it’s a triple threat match between herself, Ronda Rousey, and Charlotte Flair. If she loses, she’s completely out, and that’s the end of it all for her.

Now, after weeks of McMahon interference and crutch-related frustrations, “The Man” Becky Lynch is officially in the RAW Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 35. Thanks to a little assist from “The Baddest Woman on the Planet,” that is.

Becky Lynch def.  Charlotte Flair via Disqualification, for the fate of the WrestleMania 35 main event

Even though Becky Lynch came out to the ring with that a limp and that damn crutch, you’ve got to remember that she signed a Hold Harmless Agreement to be in this match. So, in theory, she did this to herself. On top of all that, Becky was also going into this match with hurt ribs and a hurt arm after the beating she took from Ronda Rousey this past Monday night on RAW.

Naturally, Charlotte had fun mocking Becky’s limp (and one-legged hop) from the moment “The Man” made her entrance. She also somehow managed to talk even more trash than usual during this match, having the time of her life at Becky’s expense. After all, Charlotte had nothing to lose going into this match—she was going to WrestleMania regardless.

The majority of this match had Charlotte on the offensive—sometimes toying with Becky, sometimes actually going for the win—and whenever Becky fought back, Charlotte would immediately go right for the injured knee. But Becky had (and has) no quit in her, so she kept fighting back throughout every assault from “The Queen.” She got a big opening when Charlotte went to the top rope for a moonsault, as she pushed her off and to the outside. But Charlotte gets back into the ring around the count of eight, and then she was ready to put Becky down with the Figure Eight…

But then out came Ronda Rousey. And she wasn’t going to let things go down like this. After all, if there’s one thing she’s made clear in all of this, it’s that she wants to face Becky Lynch in the main event of WrestleMania. So she ran to the ring and made her move, punching Becky and ending the match. Ending the match via DQ. Winning the match for Becky via DQ.

With that, Becky Lynch officially punched her ticket to WrestleMania, and all it took was a punch from Ronda Rousey. After soaking in the official announcement of the match result, Ronda went to the back—making sure to point to the WrestleMania sign—and Becky soaked it all in, amused:

“By any means, I suppose.”

For the first time all night, Charlotte Flair wasn’t amused, but what can say? All’s fair in the Road to WrestleMania. Sorry, Charlie. And thank you, Ronda.
