This week’s SmackDown opened with a video package recapping how an injured Becky Lynch won the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble match and appeared on RAW the next night to challenge Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship.

We then cut to the arena to see “The Man” limping to the ring to address the Phoenix crowd. Lynch said that her confrontation with Rousey showed just how different they really are: According to Lynch, despite losing to Asuka in the pay-per-view’s opening championship match, “Unlike Ronda, I don’t crumble when I lose. I went back out there and won the Royal Rumble match on just one leg.”

She reminded the crowd how Rousey mocked their different trajectories to WWE main event status and said that she’s “proud of coming from nothing.” She also declared that she believes she and Rousey will main event WrestleMania 35 and the crowd responded by chanting, “You deserve it!”

Charlotte Flair then unexpectedly entered the arena and sarcastically congratulated her former friend. Flair said that she was the one who brought Lynch—who cost her a ticket to WrestleMania at Sunday’s Royal Rumble—into the main event. Lynch responded to her rival’s condescending “you’re welcome” with a punch right to the face. As Lynch started to confidently exit up the ramp, Flair jumped Lynch and attacked her already-injured leg. Officials tried to pull the women apart, but Lynch broke free and attacked Flair. When they were separated again, Flair mocked Lynch’s leg injury.

Backstage later in the show, we learned that Lynch refused to be examined by medical staff. Instead, she just drove away from the arena looking much less confident than before.
