This week’s eventful episode of SmackDown LIVE ended with a fight between former best friends and bitter rivals Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. When Flair requested the confrontation she called it a “friendly discussion” about Lynch’s health, but with the main event of WrestleMania against Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship on the line in their upcoming match at Fastlane, fans could guess it was going to get pretty tense pretty quickly.
And that it did, with Lynch entering the arena after Flair sarcastically started a crowd chant to summon her. “The Man” got on the mic and referenced Rousey’s attack on her the previous night on RAW, admitting:
“I’d be lying if I said my body wasn’t hurting, but that’s okay. It’s hurt before and it’ll hurt again if that’s the price it takes to stay inside your head. And you know I’m in your head. I’m in Ronnie’s weird little head too. She doesn’t know what she wants anymore! One minute, she wants to face me at WrestleMania and the next she’ll do whatever it takes to avoid it, and last night she hit me with her absolute best. But I’m still here.”
After applause from the audience, Lynch added:
“I’m still standing and I’m still ready to fight again. They know that I beat you on one good leg. So yes, yes my ribs may be bruised. Yes, my arm was almost broken last night, and yes, my knee is damaged. But damaged people, yeah, they’re the most dangerous, because they have nothing left to lose.”
But “The Man” might have bitten off more than she could chew with that last badass statement. Flair ended Lynch’s speech for her by attacking her injured knee, daring her to fight if she really had nothing to lose. Lynch managed to come out of the confrontation on top, locking Flair in the Dis-Arm-Her.
She might be at a physical disadvantage going into Fastlane, but it’s clear that while Becky Lynch may be in her opponents’ heads, hers is in the game.
