Ex-WWE Champion CM Punk gives Ronda Rousey advice before her WWE in-ring debut.

When Ronda decided to leave the UFC and make a full-time transition to pro wrestling, she did so with the same passion that made her a world-class talent in both judo and MMA. That doesn’t mean Ronda was above taking advice from those who knew what it was like to thrive in pro wrestling. One person to publicly offer advice was former WWE Champion and the once self-proclaimed “Best in the World,” CM Punk.

Punk was one of the best most popular WWE superstars of his era, but when his time with the company came to an end, he decided to try his hand at competing in the UFC. A bold decision for anyone – but more so for someone without any prior mixed martial arts experience.

“The only thing I told her was to just have fun,” said Punk prior to his UFC 225 fight.

Having made the reverse transition, pro wrestling to MMA, Punk spoke from a position of both enjoying great success and having to work his way through struggles.

“I don’t know what it’s like back there in this current environment. I know she’d probably get treated differently, just as I know I probably get treated differently here,” he said. “The only thing I ever told her is, ‘I know you’ve got a lot of people telling you, do this, don’t do this. Whatever you do, when you go out there for WrestleMania, make sure you have fun. Period.”

It was easy to see that Ronda loved every second of her WrestleMania debut and that energy fueled the incredible run she’s been on in 2018. Maybe CM Punk will one day rekindle his love for pro wrestling and find himself standing on the same stage as Rousey? Full (squared) circle.
