Ronda Rousey Absolutely Destroys Sonya Deville On SmackDown

Was it really that surprising? If Ronda Rousey can have her way with Sonya Deville with one arm, why would she have trouble in a singles match? Even if Sonya messed up her surgically-repaired knee last week. Ronda’s demeanor said it all:

There is nothing more terrifying than Ronda Rousey smiling happily knowing that she’s going to legally hurt someone in the middle of a ring for the entertainment of millions. Nothing. Especially knowing that Sonya has wronged Ronda. Ronda probably wasn’t gonna make it fast. Or would she? It’s hard to tell what kind of violence Ronda will bring at any given moment.

After an extremely extended entrance for Ronda, who was almost called the “Queen of Dragons,” Sonya looked stressed as Ronda made her way down the entrance—with a knee brace. It was about to be on. Ronda’s first-ever match on Smackdown. Then Charlotte Flair had to come out and be her annoying self and stare Ronda down from the entrance ramp.

And a quick match it looked like it was about to be, with Ronda jumping up on Deville and moving into armbar position… but Charlotte. of course, hopped on the ring to distract Ronda. Then “The Rowdy One” got a chop block to that knee for her troubles. This gave Deville an opening to work Ronda for a bit, but that didn’t last long, as Ronda threw up her innovative knees to blow up Deville’s face then quickly put her in an armbar.

Charlotte had something to say about this at the commentary table, saying Ronda only had the one move: the armbar.

Ronda had something to show Charlotte regarding her being a one-trick-pony: it was a little homage to Kurt Angle:

Now the road to WrestleMania is potentially clear of an obstacle for Ronda, and the path is clear to get to Texas and do what she just did to Sonya, to Charlotte. Will it be as easy? That’s the question.
