Here are the main things:
1. Grab the waist and a wrist.
This is just like the basic judo grip, except instead of your lead arm grabbing the collar, you’re gripping around the waist. Go ahead and rewatch Ronda Rousey’s video if you need to, there’s no shame in it.
2. Bring your back leg up and turn inside.
Step up so both of your feet are together. Twist toward and into the opponent until you’re back is against them, creating a triangle of weight distribution. Keep your grip!
3. Belt below belt.
Squat down so that your judo belt is below your opponent’s. There is probably something super important about a low center of gravity here but no need to think about physics during judo because physics will just happen.
4. Head in the direction of the throw.
Don’t stare down at the ground or look back at the opponent. Look forward in the exact direction that you’ll be throwing your opponent. Guess what? That’s right: It’s on a 45-degree angle.
5. Look at your watch!

6. Stand up at the same time.
Hopefully, you followed step three because this is the big pay-off. Stand up from your belt-below-belt squat while doing the look at your watch trick and throw your opponent to the mat, who should be supported by your back.
